It's easy to feel dissatisfied about our work, when we see great projects all the time, shared by people we admire. Let's switch the mindset and show that part of a designer's life is creating projects that start well but end up bad, were killed in the process or are downright ugly.

Last year we spoke at Layers with an interesting talk that served as an intro to design. We learned quite a bit with that talk, and that parts of it might not be of interest to the FoF community. But half of it was a section on ugly work that made people chuckle and we believe was a welcome change of pace. I'd like to build on that section and showcase not only ugly work, but other types of challenges within design projects. Projects that were killed by a client, projects that became a challenge even though at first glance appeared to be great and also just bad projects that are part of a designer's life. So many young designers think being a designer is doing great work ALL THE TIME, but I think this talk can give a bit of perspective and relief to our constant imposter syndrome."
